The main objective of the mission was to officially launch the African Women in Climate Change Project in Juru Sector, Bugesera District. The launch aimed to introduce the project to stakeholders and beneficiaries, highlight its objectives, and mobilize support and ownership among the participating cooperatives and communities.

Specific objectives:
1)Present the vision and objectives of the project to local authorities, civil society organizations, and beneficiaries.
2)Encourage women cooperatives to take ownership of climate change interventions.
3)Strengthening collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and grassroots organizations in addressing climate change.
4)Emphasize the link between gender equality and climate action.

Lessons learnt

Multi-stakeholder collaboration is essential for effective climate action. Joint efforts among government, CSOs, and communities enhance coordination and long-term impact.
Communities especially women are eager and ready to participate in climate initiatives when empowered with skills and resources.
Women cooperatives are key drivers of local adaptation, demonstrating creativity, leadership, and community mobilization capabilities.
Local testimonies reaffirmed that climate action succeeds when grounded in lived experiences and community knowledge.
