WWCCN was delighted to participate in the High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, held in Dakar, Senegal, on 26–27 January 2026.
Discussions centered on advancing water action, mobilizing finance, and strengthening transboundary water cooperation ahead of the main conference scheduled for December 2026.
During the meeting, WWCCN, representing Rwanda, highlighted its ongoing efforts to protect water resources and strengthen climate mitigation and adaptation approaches within water governance. As a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) partner under the African Network of Basin Organizations (ANBO) project on river preservation, WWCCN had the opportunity to present its work related to the Kagera River, a key transboundary water resource shared across the East African region.
Through its engagement, WWCCN underscored the importance of community-driven water stewardship, gender-responsive practices, and regional collaboration in safeguarding transboundary river systems while supporting climate resilience and sustainable development.
